The idea

An event for a closed group

A private event lets you organize transport to a one-off occasion —a birthday, a match, a day trip or a get-together— among the families you invite, without mixing with public trips.

An organizer creates it, invites the rest and coordinates who drives and who rides. To create an event or join one you need an active Plus Plan.

All the options

Everything you can do in an event

These are the possibilities you have when organizing or taking part in a private event.

Destination and meeting point

You set where you're going (the destination) and, if you want, a common meeting point to set off from together. You add a name, date, time and an optional description.

Invite by email or by code

When you create the event you can invite families by email —they get a link to accept— or share the event's private code so they join from the app.

Roles: who drives and who rides

Each participant states whether they bring a car (driver) or ride as a passenger. Drivers say how many seats they offer.

Automatic car assignment

With one tap, the app shares passengers out among the drivers based on available seats. You can reassign as long as there's no firm allocation yet.

Cost-split suggestion

The app calculates a suggested fuel cost per person based on distance. It's just guidance: in a private event you sort it out among yourselves, nothing is charged automatically.

Live convoy map

During the event you can see the cars on the map in real time and flag free parking spaces. The organizer can turn it on or off.

If you organize

Create and publish the event, step by step

  1. 1
    Organizer

    Create the event

You set a name, date and time, the destination and, if you want, a meeting point and a description.

    • You need an active Plus Plan to create the event.
  2. 2
    Organizer

    Invite the families

You type the emails to send invitations, or share the event code so they join on their own.

    • Each guest also needs the Plus Plan to join.
  3. 3
    Everyone

    Share out the roles

Each participant states whether they drive or ride. Drivers say how many seats they have.

  4. 4
    Organizer

    Assign the cars

You tap to automatically share passengers out among the drivers. You can do it again as long as there are no firm assignments.

  5. 5
    Organizer

    Start the event

Starting it turns on the live convoy map. When it's over, you finish it and location sharing stops.

If you're invited

How to join an event

    Accept the invitation

If you were invited by email, open the link to accept. If you were given the code, enter it in the app to join.

  2. 2
    Guest

    Choose your role

You state whether you bring a car (and how many seats you offer) or ride as a passenger.

    • To join you need an active Plus Plan.
  3. 3
    Guest

    Coordinate with the group

You see the meeting point, your car assignment and, during the event, the convoy map.

In real time

The live convoy map

While the event is under way, the group can follow each other on the map. These are its options.

The organizer turns it on or off

The convoy map is on by default. The organizer can turn it off for an event if they'd rather not use it.

Each driver shares when they want

Sharing your location is voluntary: each driver decides when to start and stop sharing their position.

You see the cars on the map

All participants see in real time where the cars sharing their position are, so you can follow the convoy without getting lost.

Parking alerts

A driver can flag that there are free spaces to park. The alert reaches the whole group right away.

Your location, protected

Your position on the convoy map is only shared while the event is active and only with those taking part. It lives in temporary memory and deletes itself: no history is ever stored in the database.

Frequently asked

What people ask most

Do I need the Plus Plan for private events?

Yes. You need an active Plus Plan both to create an event and to join one.

How do I invite people?

Two ways: by typing their emails when you create the event (they get a link to accept) or by sharing the event's private code so they join from the app.

Can I change my role afterwards?

You can adjust your role as long as the organizer hasn't firmly assigned the cars. Once the allocation is done, the organizer must reassign to change it.

How are the cars shared out?

The organizer taps to assign and the app automatically shares passengers out among the drivers based on available seats.

Are costs charged automatically like on trips?

No. In a private event the app only shows a suggested fuel split by distance; it's guidance and you sort it out among yourselves. There's no automatic charge.

Can I remove the convoy map?

Yes. It's on by default, but the organizer can turn it off for an event. Also, sharing your position is always voluntary for each driver.

Who sees the cars' location?

Only the event's participants, and only while it's under way. The position is temporary and isn't stored.
