Spanish Government-regulated programme

Earn a bonus on every ride you already do

The CAE bonus (Energy Saving Certificates) is an official system regulated by the Spanish Government and funded by energy companies, which rewards carpooling drivers. Every kilometre shared with passengers generates credits transferred directly to your bank account.

What are Energy Saving Certificates?

CAEs are a Spanish Government tool to incentivise energy saving and CO₂ reduction. Sharing rides instead of each family driving separately saves energy. Kidstoride is integrated with this scheme so drivers receive a government-recognised financial reward.

CAE credits are income recognised by the Spanish Administration and must be declared on your IRPF tax return.

How does it work?

How much can I earn?

Credits are calculated based on trip distance and number of passengers. A regular driver can accumulate 150–300 € per year.

DistancePassengerskWh savedEstimate (€)
5 km25.29 kWh€0.48€0.74
10 km315.86 kWh€1.43€2.22
25 km452.88 kWh€4.76€7.40
50 km5132.19 kWh€11.90€18.51

Calculated using MITECO measure TRA040 (CEF_ref 0.705 kWh/km). The € amount depends on the market price (90–140 €/MWh) and is confirmed when each batch is settled with the CAE operator.

Legal and tax notice

Energy Saving Certificates (CAE) are regulated by Royal Decree 36/2023 and Order TED/845/2023. Kidstoride applies standardised measure TRA040 v1.1 (collaborative mobility) and acts as a facilitating platform in the process of agreeing a partnership with a MITECO-certified CAE operator.

The kWh accumulated on the platform constitute an economic entitlement conditional on validation by the CAE operator. The € amount is calculated when each batch is settled at the prevailing market price (variable, typically 90–140 €/MWh). Until the agreement is signed, credits are provisional and payment is not guaranteed on a specific date.

For tax purposes, amounts received under the CAE programme must be declared in your annual IRPF return as business income or capital gain depending on your personal situation. Kidstoride does not provide tax advice — consult a tax adviser or the AEAT.

Trip data (distance, passengers, dates, route coordinates) are processed by Kidstoride as data controller to calculate CAE credits, based on the explicit consent you give when applying for the bonus. You may withdraw consent at any time from your profile, which will suspend the calculation of new credits.

Frequently asked questions

How long does approval take?

The Kidstoride team reviews applications within 24-48 business hours. You'll receive a push notification and email when your application is approved or if we need more information.

When will I receive the money?

Payment will be made once the agreement with the certified CAE operator is active. Credits accumulated until then are recorded and validated on the platform. We'll notify you as soon as the agreement is activated.

Can I change my IBAN?

Yes. You can update your IBAN at any time from your profile → «CAE Bonus». Pending credits will be paid to the IBAN active at the time of payment.

Do passengers also earn credits?

No. Only drivers who transport passengers earn CAE credits. Parents who book seats do not receive credits — the incentive is for the person driving.

Do I need to declare it for income tax?

Yes. CAE programme income is recognised by the Administration and must be included in your IRPF return. Kidstoride will provide an annual certificate with the total received. Consult a tax adviser for your specific situation.

Is it compatible with charging passengers for the ride?

Yes. The CAE credit is independent of what you charge families for the ride. They are two separate income streams: one is the shared transport fee, the other is the CAE incentive —funded by energy companies— for reducing emissions.

Be among the first to activate the CAE bonus
